Let me tell you a little about myself and why I chose to start my paralegal service business and create my Paralegal Ponderings blog. As a young girl, I always wanted to be in the legal field.

My Journey to Forming a Paralegal Service and Creating Paralegal Ponderings Blog
Upon graduating high school, I moved to Arizona where I joined the Air Force. The military taught me discipline and provided me with the groundwork necessary to begin a career. After I left the Air Force, the economy was bad, and jobs were scarce. During this era of my life, it was more about survival than starting a paralegal service business. I put my college education on hold and my passion for forming a paralegal service aside.
It didn’t take long before my path eventually led me to my passion. I gained experience as a legal secretary and paralegal for 10 1/2 years in Michigan, California, and Florida. The attorneys I worked for handled dissolution of marriage, corporate law, real estate law, probate and trust administration, asset protection, and estate planning. I obtained knowledge and experience as an employee and used these experiences as a steppingstone for my next path to forming a paralegal service.
Life was good until the economy tanked in 2007. During the Great Recession in 2007 to 2009, I decided to meditate and soul-search on the next path to follow. It was up to me to do something for myself. I chose to focus on my college education. The courses at college encouraged me to start my journey on the path of entrepreneurship and form a virtual paralegal service business.
The Journey Begins by Forming a Paralegal Service Business
The journey begins. I started my paralegal service business in 2013 as a virtual paralegal and blogger for attorneys, legal document preparer for pro se filers, and bankruptcy petition preparer for pro se filers. For the next 9 years, I grew my paralegal service business. I veered off the path for 3 years to work at a law firm. The fork in the road was engaging, and I learned more about the needs of the legal community and that there's a demand for affordable paralegal services. Paralegal services are about communication, collaboration, and taking care of the customer.
Even though my path varied, I drew inspiration from the folktale "Clever Manka." Manka broke the mold with her wisdom and clever solutions to difficult problems. Creating a paralegal service addresses a problem and provides a solution to the growing problem in the legal community i.e. the increasing costs of overhead.
No matter the winding road and the detours on the fork in the road, I’m an entrepreneur at heart and this is where I belong. Through my Paralegal Ponderings blog, I aim to give back to the community and embrace my entrepreneurial spirit by offering paralegal services. My journey has been filled with learning experiences, but I've always returned to where I belong—pursuing my passion in the legal field and owning my own paralegal service business at Susan M Signer Services.
